The Virgin of Mercy (Obatala)

The Virgin of Mercy (Obatala) presents herself singing her name, Obatala, in a serious manner. She moves her hands up, middle and down. She is very white and pure. She can be a pleasant person but she is very serious minded. She asks for her white handkerchief which she places on her head. She drinks water. She is the Virgin of Prisoners and the poor as well as everything else. Her celebration day is Sept. 24. She is an excellent healer; her way of healing is very different from another spirits. Since she is pure she will heal a person with olive oil or holy water and massage the area. While doing this, the area will hurt until it is healed. I inherited this powerful spirit from my sister Yronia, who died in August 1998.
